“I truly love every minute I spend in my studio with my dog Otis at my feet.”
– Margie Grodsky, owner
MargieGrodskyPottery offers an array of beautifully crafted and functional stoneware pieces. Margie Grodsky’s journey began with pottery classes in high school and college. She fell in love with the craft and bought her own wheel and kiln about 20 years ago. When the mugs and bowls started piling up, and she ran out of family and friends to gift them to, Margie decided to try selling her pottery online. She opened an Etsy shop in 2015, and for every milestone sale, her husband would get her a cake to celebrate the occasion. He’s since stopped buying cakes, but Margie’s business has continued to grow. One of her mugs was even featured on AppleTV’s The Morning Show and used by Jennifer Aniston in a promotional photoshoot for the show in People Magazine.
Margie has a passion for pottery and loves spending countless hours at her wheel throwing unique pieces; formulating fun, new, lead-free and food-safe glazes; and firing pieces to perfection at 2200 degrees Farenheit. Her dedication to quality and detail is evident in each piece, which she handmakes in her home studio. MargieGrodskyPottery offers mugs, bowls, planters, tumblers, vases, candle holders, and more. Because each piece is individually made, no two pieces are exactly the same, and there may be slight variations in size and color. All pieces are dishwasher-, microwave-, and food-safe.
“I recently purchased two of these sea mugs for my friends’ wedding and they really seemed to love it, reminding them fondly of the sea back home as they looked over the vibrant blues of the mug. As for packaging, the mugs were so well secured in the box that they came in that I actually didn’t have to add any additional padding to it as I threw it in my luggage as is and took it on a 10 hour flight with no clacks or breakage to the mugs. Overall the mugs were of great quality and a lovely gift for anyone who feels the sea calling out to them.”
